We embraced Change right from the start by beginning our season early. Singers from Alluvia Voices began rehearsing early and participated in a workshop with Ron Long to prepare for their upcoming performance in Tosca.

The choir also hosted a potluck in Rotary Park for all members to get together and start the season off well.

On September 10th, members of Yukon Community Choirs sang as the chorus in Tosca: presented in partnership by Edmonton Opera, National Arts Centre and Yukon Arts Centre.

Members of the choir also performed our national anthem at the Western Hockey League’s Yukon Showcase, September 11-14. The arrangement of O Canada was done by our very own Nick Turnbull.

Alluvia Voices joined the esteemed Vancouver Chamber Choir for their performance, hosted by Whitehorse Concerts. Singers performed one solo piece and three pieces with VCC.

Continuing our annual tradition, Yukon Community Choir singers participated in the Remembrance Day ceremonies on November 11th. Performing the national anthem, God Save the King and pieces reflecting on peace and gratitude.

We hosted a community vocal workshop with Ron Long in partnership with Yukon Arts Centre and also performed the national anthem for the swearing in ceremony of the new cabinet.

Our annual Winter Showcase, entitled Blue Spruce was a celebration of winter in the Yukon. It included the world premiere of the new Yukon Carol: Blue Spruce, a piece commissioned by Yukon Community Choirs. The lyrics were written by Sharon Shorty and detailed her memories of Christmas in the Yukon with her family. The music was composed by our very own Ben Johnston-Urey.

Persephone Singers also continued their annual tradition of performing at Hospice Yukon’s Lights of Life ceremony. And many of our singers participated in the Sing Along Messiah put on by the Sing Along Messiah Collective.

Alluvia Voices performed a solo concert: Sacred Reflections. After a successful performance in Whitehorse, they toured the show to Haines Junction.

Confluence Chorus, Persephone Singers and Alluvia Voices, participated in the Yukon’s first baroque music festival: Bachfest, hosted by the Yukon Early Music Society.

Yukon Community Choirs was proud to represent our community by performing our national anthem at the opening ceremonies of the 2026 Arctic Winter Games. The performance was also the world premiere of the newest arrangement of O Canada by our very own Nick Turnbull.

The Neptunes hosted a sing-a-long evening entitled Beatles and Sea Shanties that was a smash hit. The sold out show had the audience laughing, singing and enjoying the atmosphere at the new Linda Rapp Building in Robert Service Campground.

Singers also participated in the Whitehorse Recreation Expo at Canada Games Centre - singing and entertaining the crowds while recruiting new members with a love of singing.

We also officially welcomed the Yukon Youth Choir to our family of choirs with their first ever performance.
